When you connect with D-Link NetDefend VPNsoftware (DS-601/605), the IP assignement should be set to 'Uselocal IP address'. Therefore, your VPN client willbe assigned an IP address in theformat 192.168.254.x.

However, if you connect using PPTP or L2PT using another VPNclient, an IP address will be assigned from the VPN server. (eg.software: MS Windows XP/2000 VPN Client)

With either method in use, all authorized packets aresent and recieved through the VPN tunnel.
