Why can I not get a connection to my VPN server using the NetDefend VPN Client?
There are multiple factors that can affect your VPNconnectivity, using the NetDefend software.

Version
You may have an early version of DS-601/605. To view sofwareverion, open NetDefend, go to menu Help thenAbout. See screenshot below. Check the productsupport page -
Logbook
A good way of troubleshooting the NetDefend software is usingthe logbook. To view it go to meny Log then Logbook.

Troubleshooting:
Possible errors in Main Mode
XMIT_MSG1_MAIN
Error:
Your VPN Client cannot reach the VPN Server.
Solution:
Check that you assigned your profile a correctGateway, in IPSec General Settings. Testby PINGING the gateway.
The gateway may be either an IP address or a domain name. (tryboth)
XMIT_MSG2_MAIN
Error:
Error on your local machine, possible conflict with other VPNClients installed.
Solution:
Reinstall the software, uninstall other VPNsoftware. Install software on another machine.
XMIT_MSG5_MAIN
Error:
The Pre Shared Key (PSK) does not match. Could also mean thatNAT Traversal (NAT-T) is active, but cannot be used.
Solution:

Possible errors in Aggressive Mode
XMIT_MSG1_AGGR
Error:
Mode not matching
Solution:
Set the same mode on client and server, eitherMAIN or AGGRESSIVE
XMIT_MSG3_AGGR
Error:
NAT-T or XAUTH settings do not match.
Solution:
Disable NAT-T, disable XAUTH
XMIT_MSG1_QUICK
Error:
IKE Proposal or Remote Networks is incorrect
Solution:
Verify address in Remote Networks. It should have the IP rangeand subnet mask of the remote machines you wish tocommunicate with. Verify IKE proposal.
