How does Wi-Fi 7 work?

Wi-Fi 7 unlocks the full potential of the 6 GHz band - a twofold increase in bandwidth compared to the previous generation. And widening the channel to 320MHz provides a x2 width increase, enabling a far larger amount of data to flow simultaneously at faster speeds.

MU-MIMO efficiency also doubles with Wi-Fi 7, from 8 to 16 spatial streams compared to Wi-Fi 6. With Wi-Fi 7's 16 streams, every device has enough bandwidth to run smoothly at the same time.
Packs in 120% more data for higher speeds.
A higher-order modulation scheme improves WiFi 7’s peak rates even further with 4096-QAM. Each symbol will efficiently carry 12 bits instead of 10, which means WiFi 7 will have 20% higher theoretical transmission rates. Watching vivid 4K/8K videos, playing massive online games without lag, or live streaming from a home computer just got a lot better.

Wi-Fi 7 utilises multiple Resource Units (RUs) by assigning them to a single user, unlike Wi-Fi 6 which can only send or receive frames on a single assigned RU. Wi-Fi 7 can combine RUs for greatly increased transmission efficiency and increased flexibility of the spectrum resource scheduling.
No waste or congestion.
Prior to Wi-Fi 7, bands couldn’t be fully utilised due to data exclusively being sent through the primary channel. Wi-Fi 7 innovates with Preamble Puncturing - the interference is blocked, opening more channels for use.
